Join us on a virtual exploration of the NA62 experiment with University of Birmingham physicists researching the rare unstable particles, kaons. The Big Bang should have created equal amounts of matter and antimatter but one of the greatest challenges in physics is to figure out why we see don’t see this antimatter. Studying the breakdown of kaons is key to the search for new phenomena explaining the shortcomings of the ‘Standard Model of particle physics’ and is helping to uncover new insights into antimatter.

The work undertaken at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) helps to uncover what the universe is made of and how it works. They provide particle accelerator facilities to researchers from across the world, including the Large Hadron Collider and the Super Proton Synchrotron to advance the boundaries of human knowledge.
