We are located on the Lower Ground floor of Muirhead Tower Building R21 (red zone), Edgbaston Campus of the University of Birmingham. We are accessible through the raised foyer area of the Muirhead Tower. Take the lift or stairs from the foyer down to the Lower Ground (LG) floor and then follow the signs to the Cadbury Research Library. There are digital totems around campus which you can search for extra directions or download the Edgbaston Campus Map app, alternatively search Google Maps for the Cadbury Research Library.
We welcome staff and students of the University of Birmingham and all members of the public. The material in our care can only be consulted in our reading room once you have registered with us.

- Tuesday 9am – 5pm
- Wednesday 9am – 5pm
- Thursday 9am – 7pm
- Friday 9am – 5pm
Requests for material must be placed by 4.15pm, or by 4.30pm on Thursdays. If you are visiting on our Thursday late opening and are arriving after 4.30pm you will need to pre-order the material you wish to consult.
We do not retrieve material from our stores between 1-2pm, the reading room remains open over lunchtime.
Material is normally retrieved within 20 minutes.
The Cadbury Research Library is closed at weekends and on University closed days.
You must register for a Cadbury Research Library reader's ticket on your first visit and bring your reader's ticket on subsequent visits. It is free to register but official identification showing your name, address and signature is required. A valid University of Birmingham staff or student ID card can be presented as proof of identification.
There are lifts to the side and rear of Muirhead Tower which will take you up to the main foyer area of the building. From here you will need to use the internal Muirhead Tower lift to the Lower Ground floor (LG) to reach the Cadbury Research Library reception.
