Conditions of service

Work carried out by the Mass Spectrometry for Chemistry Research Facility, which involves method development, critical data analysis and / or an intellectual contribution that significantly enhances the research, requires co-authorship on any publication emanating from the work.  Thus, ideally prior to work being carried out, researchers should discuss co-authorship with the Facility Manager although it is recognised that in some cases, such discussions may be more appropriate after data acquisition and processing.

Routine sample analysis such as protein identification and molecular weight determination may not require co-authorship on any subsequent publication; however, acknowledgement of the “Mass Spectrometry for Chemistry Research facility at the School of Chemistry, University of Birmingham” is required.

Please note that high quality figures for theses and publications can be provided if necessary.
