Operative Techniques 2: Fixed & Removable Prosthodontics

This module is specially designed for distance learning to provide advanced training in contemporary indirect restorative techniques and replacement of missing teeth using fixed and removable prostheses.

Students will achieve high-level understanding of the theoretic principles underlying the assessment and planning for advanced restorative clinical cases and be able to apply these to cultivate management philosophies that maximise preservation of biological tissues.

Assessment

  • 40% Submission of a reflective structured clinical case report involving one or more indirect restoration(s) (1500 word limit) If the timetable permits, this case report may be given as a PowerPoint presentation.
  • 20% Submission of designs for partial dentures (to include rationale for design decisions)
  • 10% Submission of a structured document on assessment criteria for dental implants
  • 30% Submission of a photographic portfolio of simulated tooth preparation exercises (Preparations will also be directly assessed on residential course)

Entry requirements
Dental degree and to be working actively in dental practice.
