Advanced Practice Research Project

This module allows students to demonstrate their application of advanced practice research knowledge and skills in their current work place.

This module will enable students to:

  • Plan a research investigation within a clinical area, research unit or educational institution relevant to health and social care.
  • Review and critically analyse previous literature and current policy in this area to determine / refine and inform the focus and nature of the investigation.
  • Determine appropriate methods of investigation for the research task;justifying the advanced practice rationale and recognising its limitations.
  • Collect or review and critically analyse data or information in the relevant subject field. Interpret the data collected and explain the significance, clinical relevance and implications for service transformation for patient or population benefit.
  • Present the work in the appropriate format for publication submission.

Delivery

Work based research project chosen by student and undertaken in their usual place of work or within the University of Birmingham

Assessment

3,500-7,000 word dissertation.
