Description
Semester 1
The purpose, process and publication of research will be explained and investigated through tutorials, lectures and on quantitative and qualitative approaches. Computer practicals will introduce a range of data collection and analysis methods.
Semester 2
This part of the module will prepare students for their final year Independent Research Exercise through a series of alternating lectures and small group teaching (‘Dissertation/IRE labs’): The lectures will provide guidance on research design, theoretical framing and methodological rigour. The small group teaching will provide a forum in which the lecture content can be discussed in more detail. It will also facilitate the sharing of ideas (tutor-student and peer-to-peer).
