Restoration of Freshwater Ecosystems

Description

The principal objective is to examine in detail methods and approaches for the management and restoration/enhancement of rivers.

Techniques and best practices for particular aspects of restoration will be overviewed. Environmental effects of low flows will be overviewed.

Conservation issues in freshwaters will be examined together with discussing the latest approaches in the biological monitoring of freshwaters to evaluate their health.

Overall the student will gain an insight into which restoration approaches are appropriate for a particular river system.
