Governance of socio-technical interactions in smart city development

Supervisors: Dr Adrian Campbell (primary supervisor), Dr Brock Bersaglio (secondary supervisor)

Smart city strategies and practices place significant emphasis on the interaction between technology and society to solve urban problems and achieve urban development. Despite the existence of multi- and inter-disciplinary studies, there is no universally agreed definition of smart cities within and outsides the academia. This research project goes beyond the conventional dichotomy of technology- and human-centric approaches to urban smartness, and seeks a more holistic understanding of smart cities that integrates technology, human and governance to promote urban development.
