My research looks at international SADC students' experiences of class at South African universities, which are undergoing demands for transformation in order to satisfy the post-apartheid environment. The aim is to better understand the intersections of social class, regional migration and higher education in Southern Africa. Data for this research consists primarily of ethnographic participant-observation and interviews collected at Rhodes University, Makhanda (Grahamstown), South Africa, during multiple shorter fieldwork periods.
I am a part-time doctoral candidate fully funded by ESRC.
