This year the Department of Art History, Film and Visual Studies is introducing a Study Day where students who might be interested in studying the history of art will be able to experience teaching in the subject.

The afternoon will take the form of three 30 minute talks by individual members of academic staff on different topics, including Damien Hirst, Botticelli, and images of the body. There will be a concluding 30 minute question and answer session.

We shall also have a 30 minute interval where sixth-formers can talk to current students and academics in the Department about studying History of Art at university, about applications, and about the careers that history of art graduates go on to pursue. Attendance is free.

The event will be held in the Barber Institute of Fine Arts on the University campus, and students will have the opportunity to look at the collections of world class art on display in the galleries of the Barber.
