Biography

Monita is an educator with an extensive background in Statistics and Data analytics. With an impressive teaching experience of over 23 years, she has gathered a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field. Monita did her Masters in Statistics in the year 1996 from Gauhati University, Assam India, and is a Gold Medallist for securing first- class-first position in her MSc. During her academic journey, she pursued a PhD in Queueing Theory from Brunel University, West London, United Kingdom.

She started her career in the Life Insurance Corporation of India in 1996 while she was doing her MSc. However due to a strong interest in academia, she transitioned to become a Lecturer in Statistics at Cotton University, India in 1999.

Her passion for teaching and research led her to explore opportunities abroad. She also worked as a Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics at University of Bahrain. Further, her expertise and experience led her to work in the Department of Statistics, University of Leeds, and later University of Exeter as a Senior Lecturer, where she also held the role of Programme Director of BSc in Business Analytics.

Outside of academia, Monita enjoys immersing herself in new experiences, which has greatly broadened her ability to connect with individuals from different walks of life. Her hobbies include Music and Dance.
