Yoon Chang | MPharm Pharmacy | Third Year | Korea

Yoon Chang, a third year Pharmacy student from South Korea speaks about her experiences on the MPharm Course at the University of Birmingham.

What's the best part of the course at Birmingham?

I appreciate how all the lecturers are supportive. I really like the environment where if a student gives 100% and the lecturers give back 200% of support. I enjoy practicing clinical skills with SimMan, it is  absolutely one of the best experience during MPharm programme. I believe learning through a text is not enough to apply the knowledge in real life. In that sense, SimMan is being a perfect bridge between textbook-based knowledge and real life situations.

What have you struggled the most with during your studies? How did you overcome them?

OSCE stations were something that I’ve never experienced until I started this programme. Due to of lack of experience, it was quite challenging to prepare for the OSCE stations in First year. However, the SGT clinical communication sessions were very helpful in practicing communication and clinical skills.

What advice would you give to prospective international students thinking about studying on the course?

There will be, no doubt, challenges and struggles throughout the study, especially at the place away from the comfort zone. However, as long as we stay proactive and eager to learn, lecturers are always there for us to support from every direction.  I hope international students to enjoy and explore as much as possible while they are in the UK!
