Darío González is an early-stage researcher carrying out his PhD at the University of Birmingham as part of the DANIO-ReCODE Marie Curie Doctoral Network project on vertebrate tissue regeneration. Particularly, his research focuses on the analysis of 3D genome organisation in the context of zebrafish telencephalon injury.

Biography

Darío González studied a 4-year undergraduate degree in Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid from 2019 to 2022. He graduated with an MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2022 to 2024), completing his MSc dissertation at the Complutense University of Madrid studying the detection of somatic mutations in scRNA-seq data of normal esophagus.

Darío González joined the University of Birmingham in 2025 as a doctoral candidate for the Marie Curie DANIO-ReCODE project on the study of vertebrate tissue regeneration. His research will focus on the analysis of 3D genome organisation in the context of zebrafish telencephalon injury.

Other activities

  • Active member of RSG‑Spain since 2024. RSG‑Spain is a student group within the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). Its mission is to build an open and dynamic community of students focused around bioinformatics across Spain.
  • BEAR Champion of the Department of Cancer and Genomic Sciences since summer of 2025. The champions are members of the University of Birmingham that promote computing resources available for research within the university.
