Betul is a PhD candidate in Child Health Nursing for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is interested in child cancer pain management in the home setting and also has some research interest in newborn health and family integrated care in neonatology intensive care units.

Biography

Betul entered the nursing profession in 2009 and has an extensive clinical nursing background in neonatology intensive care as well as paediatric intensive care. She was granted a scholarship by the Republic of Turkiye, Ministry of National Education, in 2017. This scholarship covers her master and PhD education in England. She moved to London in 2019 and qualified with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Nursing in 2020 from Kings College London, England. 

The focus of her Doctorate is child cancer pain management in the home setting.

Research

Betul’s research focuses on the care of newborn and children in the intensive care unit and for those who work closely with the dying, the bereaved and the critically ill. She currently works across five research areas:

  • Child cancer pain
  • Methodological and ethical issues in health research on children and young people
  • Patient and public involvement and engagement with children and young people
  • Breastfeeding difficulties and its effects during early years of childhood
  • Family integrated care in neonatology intensive care units
