Rini is a Research Fellow in the School of Dentistry. She obtained her PhD in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 2019. Her PhD was based in the School of Life Sciences and focused in investigating the host pathogen interaction between Neisseria meningitidis and human brain vascular endothelial cells.

After PhD, she joined Department of Biomaterials, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, as a postdoctoral fellow, engaging in research on biomaterials-associated infection(s) mainly caused by Staphylococci and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. She is currently involved in SONATA project in School of Dentistry and School of Chemistry, evaluating nanoparticles of antibiotics on oral biofilm models.
