Biography

Karim Mustafa is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences. His research interests include neurobiology of disease, neurodegeneration, genomics as well as mental health.

Research

Karim’s research investigates the modulation of inflammation and astrogliosis for spinal cord injury recovery, genetic targeting for improved outcomes, and management strategies for sacrococcygeal chordoma. The research aims to contribute to advancements in the understanding and treatment of spinal cord injuries.

Karim is also interested in exploring novel mechanisms of improving science and health literacy standards and practices, particularly in the context of mental health and addiction as significant community health challenges.
