Biography

Claire is a registered midwife passionate about midwifery education and lifelong learning, perinatal mental health, salutogenic approaches, supporting the public and wider voice and student mental health support.

Claires midwifery career, including her role as community and birth centred midwifery roles, Professional Midwifery Advocate and Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Midwife in Bristol.

Claire took a midwifery academic role with the University of the West of England in 202. Key roles including facilitation of the Midwifery Community Partnership Group, which combined the voices of student midwives, academics, and local advocacy groups. She led Context of Midwifery Practice and Perinatal Mental Health modules.

Claires growing scholarly interests are currently centred around person-centred and relationship focused care, holistic midwifery and perinatal mental health and midwifery work wellbeing. Claire strives to provide high quality midwifery teaching and learning that is enriched in clinical excellence, holistic practice, and psychological safety.

Claire has also been a practising massage therapist for 22 years and continues to teach therapists, midwives and students massage skills.
