Panayiota Touloupou is a Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics with interest in applied statistics and in particular on epidemiology.

She is currently working under the Neglected Tropical Disease modelling consortium which is funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This project is a large-scale international, multidisciplinary collaboration between research groups working on neglected tropical diseases. Her aim on the project has been to develop new methods of linking geospatial models of disease prevalence with transmission models of epidemic dynamics in order to make maps of future projections of disease.

In her PhD she developed new inference methods for individual-level multi-strain epidemics with partial observations.

Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics:

  • PhD in Statistics, University of Warwick, 2016.
  • MSc in Statistics, University of Warwick, 2012.
  • BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, University of Cyprus, 2011.

Panayiota Touloupou graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Cyprus in 2011. She then moved to the University of Warwick to study for the MSc degree in Statistics and she carried on her studies for a PhD in Statistics at University of Warwick.

Before joining the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham in 2020, she was a research fellow at the Department of Statistics at University of Warwick.

Applied Statistics.
