Catherine Grant’s excellent website Film Studies for Free has just published a new piece by Prof. Rob Stone.

‘The Flâneur on Film: On films by Richard Linklater and Others’ features Stone’s recent video essay on Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise entitled Between Sunrise and Sunless. Shot in Vienna to coincide with the release of the third part of Linklater’s trilogy, Before Midnight, the video essay is accompanied by Stone’s reflections on the notion of the flâneur as it applies to the films of Linklater and others, reflections developed in Stone’s recent monograph, The Cinema of Richard Linklater: Walk Don’t Run. You can see Stone’s text and video essay for free here.
