Professor Catherine Grant - "Film Studies Plays Itself"

followed by a screening of:

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (Howard Hawks)

This year, B-Film is delighted to announce that our invited speaker is Professor Catherine Grant, whose public lecture will be followed by a screening of Howard Hawks’s extravagant musical comedy GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES with Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. Catherine Grant is Professor of Digital Media and Screen Studies at Birkbeck University of London. She is an expert and innovator, working at the cutting edge of contemporary Film Studies.

She will deliver an illustrated lecture on the art and practice of video essays and moving image criticism, followed by her introduction to the film. This is a great opportunity to meet a world-leading scholar in contemporary Film Studies and see a great, classic film on the big screen!

This event will start promptly at 12 midday on Saturday the 10th of March in Screen 1 of The Electric Cinema (next to Birmingham New Street Station).

Only 26 seats (the first two rows) are free for friends and members of B-Film so if you wish to reserve a seat (and they’re going fast already!) then please contact us to see if any are left. All other seats are on sale from the Electric Cinema box-office and online on their website at £7.50 each.
