The Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics is offering a number of AHRC and ESRC-funded Masters and Doctoral studentships.

We particularly welcome applications in the areas of Corpus Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Literary Linguistics, Language and Social Media, Language and Politics, and the History of English. Within these areas, colleagues have particularly strong specialisms in Metaphor, Construction Grammar, Language Change, the Language of Dickens, Embodied Cognition, Elizabethan English, Narratives and Social Media, and Health Discourse.
