We’re pleased to announce that Dr Amelia Swift, Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham, has been awarded the Educator of the Year at the 2016 Student Nursing Times Awards.

The Student Nursing Times Awards are the only awards to celebrate the very best in student nurses and nurse education.

The judges said “This winner was described as being dynamic and creative. The winner is very innovative and is full of ideas that they see through.”

Professor Fiona Irvine, Head of Nursing at the University commented:

“Amelia is an engaging and inspirational lecturer whose passion for nursing is always evident when she works with students. This is a fantastic achievement and very well deserved.”

The Student Nursing Times Awards recognises and rewards brilliant educational establishments and honours those who are committed to developing new nursing talent as mentors, lecturers and providers of placements. The awards also pay tribute to students who have demonstrated the academic achievement, clinical prowess and personal qualities that will make them brilliant nurses.

Now in its 5th year, the 2016 event saw a record number of entries, with 163 finalists shortlisted and 17 deserving winners.
