Association of British Choral Directors

The Association of British Choral Directors (abcd) is the leading UK organisation devoted entirely to supporting everyone leading choral music. abcd promote and maintain opportunities for the professional development of all those leading singing of any kind, whether in the classroom or in the community. University Music are an Associate Member.

Association of British Orchestras

The Association of British Orchestras (ABO) is the national body representing the collective interest of professional orchestras, youth ensembles and the wider classical music industry throughout the UK. Their mission is to enable and support an innovative, collaborative and sustainable orchestral sector by providing advice, support, intelligence and information to the people who make British orchestras a global success. University Music are an Associate Member.

Barber Concerts

Barber Concerts are a longstanding partner of University Music, hosting a programme of internationally acclaimed Evening Concerts and regular, free Lunchtime Concerts.

BEAST – Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre

BEAST is the concert sound system of the University of Birmingham’s Electroacoustic Music Studios. Over the decades since its launch BEAST has become established as one of the leading systems for the presentation of electronic music in the world, and as an ongoing catalyst for creation and innovation in the field.

BBC New Generation Artists

The BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists Scheme helps to support talented musicians to reach the next stages of their careers and brings some of the world’s most promising new talent to listeners across the UK. They proudly present artists in partnership with Barber Concerts.

Birmingham Contemporary Music Group

BCMG is a British chamber ensemble based in Birmingham, specialising in the performance of new and contemporary music. BCMG performs regularly in Birmingham, tours nationally and worldwide, and has appeared several times at the BBC Proms. They partner with the University in providing workshop opportunities for young composers.

Birmingham Opera Company

Birmingham Opera Company is a professional opera company based in Birmingham, specialising in innovative and avant-garde productions of operatic repertoire, often in unusual venues across the City. They work with the University in providing workshop opportunities for young singers.

City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra based in Birmingham. It is resident at Symphony Hall, Birmingham and presents concerts across the UK and worldwide. Players and conductors from the CBSO work with the University in providing coaching, masterclasses, and workshops to students as part of University Music.

Ex Cathedra

Ex Cathedra is a leading British choir based in Birmingham, directed by Jeffrey Skidmore. It performs music spanning the 15th to 21st centuries and regularly commissions new works. Ex Cathedra partner with University Music to award four scholarships to promising choral singers at the University, offering unrivalled experience of singing at a professional level.

Gospel Revisited Project

Gospel Revisited Project was created in 2017 by founder Ray Prince as a grass-roots project, designed to celebrate the history and heritage of gospel music through reinterpretation of masterpieces, in ways that would excite existing lovers of the genre, as well as engage new, diverse audiences.

Music Mark

Music Mark are a leading national organisation advocating for excellent musical learning in and out of school. They offer training and resources and connect members with a wider music education network across the UK. University Music are a Music Education Member.

National Children’s Choir of Great Britain

The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain (NCCGB) work with young people aged 9-19 from across the country to make music under the tutelage of top choral professionals on residential courses and choir tours.

National Youth Choir

National Youth Choir (NYC) is a family of choirs for outstanding young singers in the UK, hosting a variety of residential courses to support singing and performance throughout the year. NYC also operate a number of emerging artist programmes for composers and conductors.

Oxford International Song Festival

Oxford Song has built a national and international reputation over the past twenty years, promoting classical song through world-class concerts at the Oxford International Song Festival and developing the next generation of artists through our Young Artist Programme. They proudly present artists in partnership with Barber Concerts.

Presteigne Festival

The Presteigne Festival is a classical music festival which takes place every year in the town of Presteigne in the Welsh Marches. The Festival promotes a wide variety of concerts together with many music-related activities. They proudly present artists in partnership with Barber Concerts.

Services for Education

Services for Education uses the power of learning and of music to create and build confidence amongst children, young people, adults and communities across the city of Birmingham.

Sonia Sabri Company

Established in 2002 and joining the Arts Council’s National Portfolio in 2012, Sonia Sabri Company (SSC) is led by Artistic Director, Sonia Sabri and Musical Director, Sarvar Sabri. They are a Birmingham Hippodrome associate company. Sonia Sabri Company partner with University Music to deliver our South Asian Music Ensemble.

The Elgar Scholars

The Elgar Scholars are a pre-professional chamber choir based in Birmingham. Singers are current students or alumni from University of Birmingham, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and various other musical and academic institutions around the country.

YCAT – Young Classical Arts Trust

Founded in 1984, the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) supports the early careers of musicians so they can go on to move generations of audiences around the world with their talent. They proudly present artists in partnership with Barber Concerts.
