
Jinan-Birmingham dual degree undergraduate programmes

A partnership between Jinan University and the University of Birmingham in the UK provides the opportunity for students to study in China and receive a dual degree from Jinan University and the University of Birmingham.

Programme structure
The programmes are all four years in duration :
- Year one consists of four Birmingham modules, covering the foundations of Applied Mathematics, and between seven and ten Jinan modules, depending on your degree.
- Year two is composed of four Birmingham modules, consolidating the knowledge you have gained in year one, and varying numbers of Jinan modules depending upon your degree programme.
- Year three consists of a final set of four Birmingham modules, and Jinan modules depending on your degree programme, including optional modules in some degree programmes.
- Year four modules are taught by Jinan staff. They include an internship and a thesis, and other modules depending on the degree programme, including optional modules enabling you to tailor your degree to your requirements.
Assessment
Throughout you will be assessed by a mixture of continuous assessment and formal examinations.
Staff
The Applied Mathematics component is taught by staff from the School of Mathematics, University of Birmingham. Professor Chris Good is the Programme Lead.

Each programmes has a strong core of Applied Mathematics. You will be based on the Jinan University campus, with University of Birmingham staff from the School of Mathematics delivering the teaching on site.

The Jinan-Birmingham Joint Institute was officially opened in November 2016 in a ceremony at Jinan University, Guangzhou.
The University of Birmingham and Jinan University have a strong and well established partnership, and have been working together on delivering programmes in the School of Mathematics since 2011, as part of a wider multi-disciplinary relationship.

By studying one of our mathematics programmes on the Guangzhou campus you will experience a British style education delivered by leading researchers from a global top 100 university. You will work closely with academics from the University of Birmingham in the UK who will teach you some of the same modules that our students in the UK also study. The dual degree programmes represent an exciting development for Birmingham and Jinan University.
