Summer is upon us and while students may be enjoying a well-earned break, it’s also a valuable chance for them to boost their CV with an internship or period of work experience.
The comprehensive programme of internships available from Careers Network offers hundreds of opportunities across a wide range of professions from advertising to field archaeology and scientific research.
But the benefits provided by the scheme are not one-way – employers also gain much from hosting interns, as Senior Internships Officer Kam Manku explained.
Kam said: 'Interns can offer fresh ideas and different perspectives to an organisation, and the flexibility of the programme means that employers can utilise them for anything from short projects to longer term placements.
'We provide access to undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates from a variety of degree subjects, so businesses can develop their own recruitment channels at different levels.
'Offering an internship can be very satisfying on a personal level as well. You can mentor students and provide invaluable expert advice and guidance, to help them develop their skills and career path.'
