Our purpose-built incubator has high calibre shared laboratory and single-occupancy office/laboratory suites, and is designed to grow life science companies from proof of concept through to expansion on the University of Birmingham campus.

The BioHub is unique. It's set up for completely fledgling companies without huge amounts of funding. You can take just one or two lab benches, and all the equipment is looked after, which is a big draw.

  • The team at Biohub Birmingham

    Our laboratory team is passionate about translation and works flexibly to meet tenant needs. Led by Senior Laboratory Manager Dr Claire Litchfield, the team runs the BioHub like a ‘campus within a campus’ for entrepreneurs, scientists and innovators. The team provides full-time technical support, ensures all shared equipment is maintained, and helps source additional specialist equipment when required.

The administrative and technical teams go above and beyond, delivering exceptional support and guidance with enthusiasm and expertise. Their proactive, ‘can do’ attitude has contributed to our continued success.

  • Application criteria

    Applicants should be a commercial entity (a limited company or sole trader) and working in the life-sciences sector. Users of the facility should be competent scientists with knowledge and experience of working in a lab environment, and associated health and safety requirements.
