Mechanical engineers design, develop, install and test everything from small parts to huge machines and vehicles. They make things move, develop and use new technologies and solve complex problems. Consider the world around us with things like cars, planes, fridges and machines, mechanical engineers have a huge impact on our everyday lives.

Our fantastic new facilities will give you access to exciting experiments and laboratory sessions. The programme offers a suite of modules covering core mechanical engineering subjects that are designed to develop your learning progressively. The integrated design project also provides an excellent opportunity to work in groups on a large engineering activity with industry input. Teaching is joint between academics on our Dubai campus, and our Edgbaston Campus. You will also have the opportunity to interact and work alongside students in our Edgbaston campus in the UK whilst you study at our Dubai campus.

If you choose to study our BEng Mechanical Engineering programme, you will be given the option (dependent on academic requirements) to transfer on to our four-year MEng Mechanical Engineering programme on our UK Edgbaston Campus, where you can study year 3 and 4 of the programme.

As a mechanical engineer, you could get a job in a wide range of revolutionary industries, from aerospace and nuclear engineering to accountancy and investment banking. Gaining a degree in mechanical engineering ensures that graduates have a strong range of career options open to them. Our graduates work in small and global organisations such as Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Airbus and Aston Martin.

By successfully completing the BEng Mechanical Engineering programme to at least a high 2.2, and subject to UK Visa approval, you can progress onto our MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering, allowing you to continue your education at postgraduate level.

Our Mechanical Engineering programme is a three-year Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree, we also offer the course with an Integrated Foundation Year.

All modules listed are compulsory

The first two years of our BEng mechanical engineering course have been designed to provide a contemporary and flexible educational model that builds upon essential engineering fundamentals to develop students’ broader understanding of behaviour, policy, entrepreneurship, and global perspectives and kindles the passion necessary to address the societal challenge agenda.

Year one

Like all UAE Ministry Of Education Higher Education Institutions we run the below listed compulsory modules.  These modules are designed to support talented graduates in the region, with the skills to aid and further employability.

Year two

Year three

In the final year these fundamentals of engineering are used to explore advanced engineering topic areas, with a more problem solving based focus, within the context of a broadly based programme of study. In your final year you undertake a major individual project linked to your chosen field of specialisation. You will also undertake a group design study project exploring the associated commercial, legal and safety aspects of developing a new product.

We charge an annual tuition fee which is set at AED 126,455 per year of study.

3 A Levels. Typical offer AAB - ABB. A level Mathematics grade A (Further Mathematics and Physics are not required but are advantageous). You must also pass the practical element of any reformed science A Levels which include Biology, Chemistry and Physics taught from 2015. General studies not accepted.

International Baccalaureate Diploma

6,6,5 – 6,5,5 at Higher Level to include 6 in Mathematics with a minimum of 32 points overall.

This world famous programme has many strengths. One of them is the Integrated Design Subject which runs through all of academic years during the course of the study.

Learning and teaching methods will take the form of lectures, classes, case study work, online assignments and quizzes, presentations and self-directed study.

Work will be assessed via exams, coursework, presentations and a dissertation.

I had secured a summer placement with GKN through the University Mentoring Scheme, which allows me to learn about new skills and areas as well as incorporating the teaching I am learning at University.
