Licensure and accreditation from the UAE's MOHESR

The University of Birmingham Dubai holds Initial Institutional Licensure by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). This recognises the quality of our educational experience, designed to stretch and challenge students to reach their highest potential.

    From 30th September 2019 to 9th September 2026, the University of Birmingham Dubai is licensed by the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to award degrees and qualifications in higher education.

    This accreditation marks a significant milestone in our journey to becoming a key part of Dubai’s emerging global education hub.

What does this mean for you?

Once granted, our licensure and programme accreditations from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research apply to all existing academic programmes at the University of Birmingham Dubai. This status also extends to the qualifications earned by all our graduates.

Government employment opportunities

Our degree certificates can be attested by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, enabling our graduates to pursue governmental employment across the Gulf region.

  • Continued KHDA licensing

    As an institution proudly based in the Emirate of Dubai, we will continue to operate under the licensure of the Dubai Government through the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

    The KHDA remains responsible for our Higher Education Permit, ensuring the quality of higher education in Dubai. They will continue to assess the initial approval of all our programmes, guaranteeing they meet high standards and offer real value and relevance to students in Dubai.

    The KHDA continue to be an incredibly important partner in developing our contribution to Higher Education in Dubai. Our long-term commitment is demonstrated by the development of our new campus, reflecting our dedication to this partnership.
