Bringing Birmingham to You: Dinosaur Detectives

Join us online as Professors Alice Roberts, Richard Butler and Kirsty Edgar uncover the secrets of our prehistoric past.

The University of Birmingham is at the forefront of groundbreaking paleontology research. Join us online via Zoom to explore some of the most weird and wonderful recent discoveries from our prehistoric past.

Hosted by Alice Roberts, Professor of Public Engagement in Science, this event will take you on a fascinating journey into the world of dinosaurs and ancient environments.

Meet our dinosaur detectives:

  • Professor Richard Butler will introduce Spicomellus, nicknamed the punk rock dinosaur, discovered in modern-day Morocco.
  • Professor Kirsty Edgar will reveal extraordinary footprints along Oxfordshire’s “dinosaur highway,” the largest trackway site in the UK.

You’ll have the chance to put your questions directly to our experts, learn how these discoveries were made, and find out how the latest research is reshaping our understanding of dinosaur behaviour and the environments they lived in.

All alumni, friends, and supporters are warmly invited. No prior knowledge of the subject required - just bring your curiosity!

Come prepared with your questions to ask live or email us in advance.
