Acknowledging that the UK economy is “not working well enough for working people”, Rachel Reeves will announce her second annual Autumn Budget on 26th November 2025. Fiscal tightening and/or tax rises are expected but speculation remains around the extent of changes to either.
On November 27th, the CHASM seminar series will be asking “what might specific changes to public spending mean for low- and middle-income individuals and their household financial security?”
To help us assess whether this Autumn Budget will offer a pathway to a fairer and more financially inclusive society, we are inviting three experts to speak on core areas of CHASMs financial security research agenda:
- Rebecca Deegan, Director of Fair by Design.
- Tom Levitt, Consultant on Responsible and Sustainable Business and Associate Lecturer, University of West London.
- Dr Suzy Morrissey, Deputy Director, Pensions Policy Institute.
The experts will each have time to offer their thoughts on what the Autumn Budget might mean for financial security, followed by a panel discussion. There will be time at the end for the audience to offer thoughts and questions to the panel.
