This College-wide research conference brings together colleagues from across the College of Social Sciences to share experiences of securing European research funding and generating real-world impact. The event will provide an opportunity to learn from colleagues’ research journeys, explore how projects develop into competitive funding proposals and impactful outcomes, and strengthen the College’s research community.
Conference Themes
The conference programme focuses on two themes:
Theme 1: EU Funding
This theme explores opportunities for engaging with European research funding, such as Horizon and European Research Council (ERC) grants. It will address common myths and misconceptions about EU funding while sharing practical experiences from colleagues who have successfully navigated these processes. The conference will also encourage discussions regarding developing competitive proposals and engaging with European funding programmes.
Theme 2: Impact
This theme highlights how research across the College contributes to real-world impact. The panel will showcase their research journeys, including projects supported by the CoSS Engagement and Impact Fund, and encourage an open conversation about how research can translate into meaningful societal, policy, and community outcomes.
