Creative Workshop: Greek-inspired tiles

Our popular creative workshops are back - this time with an ancient Greek classical twist!

What to expect

• Decorate your own enamel tile, inspired by ancient Greek artefacts from the University of Birmingham’s Collections
• Archaeologist Dr Maeve McHugh will introduce the objects and explore women’s influence on art and design in the ancient world
• Artist and enameller Naomi Clarke will then guide you in creating your own patterns with pencil and colourful glazes.

Tiles will be fired after the workshop and available to collect from The Exchange.

The café in the Banking Hall is open throughout the event and serves hot and cold drinks.

Take the opportunity to see Helios, a vast illuminated sculpture by British artist Luke Jerram depicting the surface of the sun using NASA imagery.

Do I need to book?

Yes. Tickets for this event are £30 (£5 student tickets are available). Please register for this event via the link in the top right of this page.

Facilities and accessibility

This talk takes place in The Vaults, which is accessible by stairs and lift.

We’re committed to making The Exchange as welcoming and accessible as possible. There’s step-free access and accessible toilets on all floors, plus a Changing Places toilet on the basement level.
