Discover the Sun in a whole new way at our family launch of Helios!
Explore the Sun through sound, art, and science at our Helios family launch. Designed for curious minds of all ages, this free, drop-in event offers a relaxed way to spend time together while discovering our closest star.
- Step up close to Helios, Luke Jerram’s spectacular sculpture of the Sun
- Meet researchers and explore real solar science up close at our new exhibition
- Experience the sounds of the Sun with musician Aaron Diaz
- Create your own space‑weather superheroes with artist Tat Vision
Whether your family enjoys making, listening, or learning, this is a gentle, engaging way to start your Seeing the Sun adventure.
Facilities & accessibility
We’re committed to making The Exchange as welcoming and accessible as possible. There’s step-free access and accessible toilets on all floors, plus a Changing Places toilet on the basement level. Guide dogs and assistance animals are always welcome. If you have any questions about access, just drop us an email at engage@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
Baby facilities
If you're attending with little ones, we’ve got you covered! A wall-mounted changing bench is available in both the ground-floor male and female toilets. We also welcome breastfeeding anywhere, but if you’d prefer a bit of privacy, there’s a baby feeding room available on the ground floor.
