Human body unlocked: Exploring medical imaging

- DateWednesday, 25 March 2026 (13:00 - 15:00) (UK)
- LocationLG06 and LG12, Old Gymnasium, University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 2TT
Step inside the human body without ever picking up a scalpel.
In this interactive masterclass, you will discover how modern medical imaging helps doctors see beneath the skin to diagnose disease, monitor treatment, and understand how our bodies work. From X-rays to MRI and ultrasound, you’ll explore how different imaging technologies reveal different aspects of the body and why no single technique tells the whole story.
After a dynamic 30-minute introduction to the science behind medical imaging, you’ll take part in a fast-paced, team-based scavenger hunt challenge. Working together, you’ll decode images, solve medical puzzles, and piece together clues just like real clinicians and biomedical scientists.
This event is part of our Masterclasses series and is open to students in Years 12 and 13. To attend, students must be studying at least one science from Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
