In this practical workshop, we will examine Federico García Lorca's play Yerma, currently set for A-level Drama. Taking its social, cultural and historical contexts into account, we will explore the interpretative processes involved in preparing the play for performance. We will consider the practical demands of the text from the perspectives of director, performer and designer (lighting, sound, set, costume).

The workshop will include brief screenings and moments of discussion, though the main focus will be on creative activities and practical exercises that help participants bring the play to life. The leader of this Masterclass is Dr Pablo Arenillas Pakula, who is a Spanish national and an experienced practising performance-maker, live artist and event curator.

This event is part of our Masterclasses series and is open to students in Years 12 and 13.
