This October half term, we’re looking at the everyday in unexpected ways, transforming ordinary beds into extraordinary adventures and familiar places into something strange and eerie.

What makes a familiar place feel strange?

What to expect

  • Inspired by the University of Birmingham’s Haunted Midlands research, this Halloween workshop invites families to see the places around us in a different way
  • Join artist Sarah Hamilton Baker to transform the everyday into the eerie, taking familiar streets, buildings, parks and places as a starting point for your own Halloween creations.
  • Fancy dress costumes welcome!

The café in the Banking Hall is open throughout the event and serves hot and cold drinks and food.

Take the opportunity to see Helios, a vast illuminated sculpture by British artist Luke Jerram depicting the surface of the sun using NASA imagery.

Do I need to book?

Yes, tickets for this event are £5 per child. Please register for this event via the link in the top right of this page.
