Everyone welcome!

Join us at the BRIG Cafe in Birmingham on Friday 16 January for a public lecture by historian Seth Rockman.

Professor Rockman's research explores the relationships between slavery and capitalism in the making of modern America. In his most recent book Plantation Goods: A Material History of American Slavery, Professor Rockman explores how the goods produced for and used on American plantations shaped the lives and experiences of enslaved and free people in nineteenth-century America.

The lecture will be around 30 minutes, and will be followed by a Q&A session.

It will be chaired by Gabrielle Hemmings, a graduate student at the University of Birmingham and a former research assistant at the Centre for Reparation Research at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.

The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Location: BRIG Cafe, Unit 104 Zellig, Digbeth, Birmingham, B9 4AT
