What to expect

• Researchers from the University of Birmingham’s Shakespeare Institute look to the skies to explore how astronomy, astrology, religion and theatre came together in Shakespeare’s world

• Through the women in his plays, discover how ideas about the moon, the stars and emotions shaped women’s lives

• The evening will also feature a poetic live art response to Helios from Creative Industries students and alumni, collaging fragments from across Shakespeare’s works into something new.

The café in the Banking Hall is open throughout the event and serves hot and cold drinks.

Take the opportunity to see Helios, a vast illuminated sculpture by British artist Luke Jerram depicting the surface of the sun using NASA imagery.

Yes. This event is free but ticketed. Please register for this event via the link in the top right of this page.

Facilities and accessibility

We’re committed to making The Exchange as welcoming and accessible as possible. There’s step-free access and accessible toilets on all floors, plus a Changing Places toilet on the basement level.
