Step into spring at this family event exploring how sunlight shapes the natural world.

Academics from the Birmingham Institute of Forest Research will lead hands-on activities showing how plants sense and depend on light, alongside a tactile, making activity with the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, inspired by Karel Dujardin’s oil painting A Landscape with Cattle and Figures.

This event is free; drop in anytime.

Facilities & accessibility

We’re committed to making The Exchange as welcoming and accessible as possible. There’s step-free access and accessible toilets on all floors, plus a Changing Places toilet on the basement level. Guide dogs and assistance animals are always welcome. If you have any questions about access, just drop us an email at engage@contacts.bham.ac.uk.

Baby facilities

If you're attending with little ones, we’ve got you covered! A wall-mounted changing bench is available in both the ground-floor male and female toilets. We also welcome breastfeeding anywhere, but if you’d prefer a bit of privacy, there’s a baby feeding room available on the ground floor.
