Did you know there is weather in space? Just like the weather on Earth, space weather can have a big impact on our lives.

Join solar scientists and students from the University of Birmingham to discover how activity on the Sun creates space weather, how it travels millions of kilometres through space, and what happens when it reaches Earth.

Follow a space storm from Sun to Earth through short talks and Q&As with expert researchers studying the Sun, space weather, and our near-Earth environment.

Journey through the Solar System in our planetarium and discover how the Sun influences Earth and the other planets.

Get hands-on with interactive activities and demonstrations from exploring auroras and launching your own rockets, to building your own satellite and touching the very material that makes up the Sun and our upper atmosphere.

Facilities and accessibility

We’re committed to making The Exchange as welcoming and accessible as possible. There’s step-free access and accessible toilets on all floors, plus a Changing Places toilet on the basement level.
