Join University historian, Dr. David Gange, for a captivating talk about his immersive journeys along the Atlantic coasts of Britain and beyond.

Drawing on his books The Frayed Atlantic Edge (2019) and Afloat (to be released in 2026), David shares stories from thousands of miles travelled by kayak and traditional boats, nights spent on wild shorelines, and time learning from boatbuilders and coastal communities.

These books reflect on today’s ecological challenges, showing how the resilience, knowledge, and environmental ethics of these water-connected communities offer vital insights for a sustainable future.
