Join us for an inspiring 90-minute programme celebrating female empowerment through documentary film and conversation.

Award-winning filmmaker Charysse Tia Harper presents a short documentary and a teaser exploring women who challenge gender barriers in traditionally male-dominated professions, such as mining, plumbing and bullfighting.

  • Screening: The Jill of the Trade (22 min) - A documentary profiling women in male-dominated professions. Trailer

About the filmmaker

Charysse Tia Harper

Charysse Tia Harper is a dual United States-Trinidad & Tobago citizen based in London. Through her company Xplore the World (founded 2010), she creates documentaries exploring cultural identity and gender barriers. Her work includes the award-winning The Other Side of Carnival and Panomundo series. The Jill of the Trade won Best Documentary at Conch Shell International Film Festival (2021). Charysse is currently in pre-production for Las Matadoras.
