The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a number of £5,000 scholarships for students living in Europe who are intending to study an undergraduate degree commencing in September 2026.
These competitive scholarships will be awarded based upon academic merit to the highest-performing students as nominated by each partner.
Who can apply?
Please note that students already registered and studying on a programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and students applying for MBChB Medicine and Surgery or BDS Dental Surgery are not eligible for this scholarship.
To apply for the scholarship, students will need to be nominated by their local representative or partnered school (listed above). The allocation of the award will be made based on academic excellence.
In order to be eligible, candidates must:
- Have received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as their firm choice in UCAS for a full-time undergraduate programme starting September 2026. The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at the Birmingham, UK campus.
- Meet the academic conditions of their offer to the programme.
- Be domiciled in one of the countries our local representatives or partnered school operate in.
- Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.
- Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
- Start their studies at the University in September 2026 (the scholarship award cannot be deferred).
- Accept an offer from the University of Birmingham by the deadline 4 June 2026.
Eligible countries
Students of any nationality can apply provided their country of permanent residence ('domicile') is one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or Ukraine
How to Apply
No application process is required. Eligible applicants will be reviewed in early July and awards will be made to the successful candidates based upon their academic merit.
Applicants must have made the University of Birmingham their firm choice by 4 June 2026.
The scholarship discount will be awarded upon the students’ enrolment in September 2026.
