The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce scholarship awards of £5,000 for Malaysia-domiciled students applying for entry to an undergraduate programme at the Birmingham campus starting September 2026.

The scholarships will be awarded to the highest performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in 2026/27 academic year.

Who can apply?

Please note that students already registered and studying on a programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and students applying for MBChB Medicine and Surgery or BDS Dental Surgery are not eligible for this scholarship.

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

  • Have received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as their firm choice by 30/04/2026 for a full-time undergraduate programme starting September 2026. The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at the Birmingham UK campus.
  • Be on track to meet or exceed the academic conditions of their offer to the programme.
  • Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.
  • Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
  • Start their studies at the University in September 2026 (the scholarship award may not be deferred).
  • Accept an offer from the University of Birmingham and be in contact with one of our local representatives by the deadline; 30 April 2026.

Eligible countries

Open to all nationalities but must be living in (domiciled) Malaysia.

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, students must be registered and accepted an offer from the University of Birmingham, and have made Birmingham their firm choice by the scholarship deadline of 30 April 2026.

Selection for the award will be based on academic merit and the students who are deemed the highest performers.

What is the value of the award?

The scholarship is £5,000 awards towards tuition fees (for the first year only) of a full-time Undergraduate degree programme at the University of Birmingham UK campus, starting September 2026.

When will successful candidates be notified?

Decisions will be announced by Friday 14th August at the latest and the scholarships will be awarded upon the students’ enrolment in September 2026.

Please note if we have not contacted by this time, your scholarship application has not been successful.

Can this scholarship be combined with other scholarships?

Students who are applying for government scholarships are still able to apply for our awards, but if the student does receive a full or partial government scholarship or alternative scholarship award then they are no longer eligible for this scholarship.

This scholarship can be held in conjunction with scholarships issued by other University of Birmingham departments, terms and conditions of both scholarships permitting.

What are the Terms and Conditions for this scholarship?

By accepting the award, the scholar will agree to support the University by helping with future student visits, being available for testimonials/ photos/videos for marketing purposes and engaging in other activities such as blogging (if required).
