Emily Stacey - marketing role with Pertemps, Meriden
Emily Stacey, a third year Modern Languages student, spent her summer in a marketing role with Pertemps. We spoke to her about her experiences last summer.
I applied for a role with Pertemps as I wanted to get some work experience in a professional environment whilst gaining new contacts and networks.
On a day-to-day basis, I updated all of the company’s documents to be in-keeping with their new image. I also created new marketing materials.
Before starting this role I had never made videos or created websites. Throughout the internship I learnt how to film and edit videos and how to create a website from scratch! There was a lot of trial and error, but I eventually got it right!
The best bit about the role was that I was able to be creative and put forward my own ideas. However, the highlight was a business trip to the Slovak capital of Bratislava for a week!
I really enjoyed the marketing aspect of the role and the whole internship gave me new ideas of routes I may want to consider in the future. Because of this internship I will definitely be more confident going into interviews. I feel that the internship has given me more skills to draw upon when applying for jobs as well as contacts within an industry which interests me.

Don’t worry if there are bits about a role you don’t like, you are using your time as a student to find out what you do and don’t want to do in your future!
