More than five thousand new students will next week join the University of Birmingham – and they can be sure of a warm welcome to campus.

From 24 September to 1 October Birmingham's Welcome Week will see new and returning students take part in a range of activities - organised by the university and its Guild of Students - designed to involve and introduce everyone to Birmingham's 27,000 strong student community.

From the famous Fresher's Fair to evening entertainment, students will have the opportunity to meet new friends and to gain a real flavour of life at Birmingham. They will also be able to take an eco-friendly campus tour – in the back of a rickshaw, which will pull on to campus during the week.
