Students across the country will have the opportunity to learn more about study opportunities in the UK. In early December, ten leading UK universities will be visiting major cities here in France to showcase UK higher education and talk to students and educational advisers about the benefits of studying in the UK.
The UK universities are all part of a consortium called “UK Universities Go Europe”, which aims to attract talented students from across Europe to study in the UK and to provide students with the right tools and information to research study options in the UK and to improve their career prospects. There are now more than 17,000 students from France studying in the UK and the number is expected to grow as more and more students gravitate towards English-speaking study environments.
Evidence shows that French students are interested in studying a wide range of subjects in the UK, including Law, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Language studies.
Julie Barbet-Gros, from Challex, currently studying for a BA in International Relations at the University of Birmingham (UK) said “It’s great studying in the UK. It feels so good to be able to talk with confidence about my subject area, using English. I’ve met people from around the world and I am planning a career working with other EU countries, once I graduate”.
Rob Miller, the University Counsellor at the Cite Scolaire Internationale, Lyon, France said “I believe that UK universities offer a tremendous learning and “life” experience for our students.”
The UK Universities tour will visit Bordeaux on 3rd December, Lyons on 4th December and Paris on 5th and 6th December. The consortium is made up of the following UK universities: University of Birmingham; Bournemouth University; University of Bradford; Goldsmiths, University of London; University of Kent, Loughborough University, University of Nottingham, University of Plymouth, University of Sheffield, SOAS - School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
