Students from the University of Birmingham's 'Sounds Free Orchestra' will perform works by Finnish composers at a concert in Birmingham's Chamberlain Square on Friday 29th May at 6.30pm.

Inspired by the 'Northern Lights' exhibition at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the concert will include Symphony no.1 by Sibelius, Magnus Lindberg's Chorale, based on the same Bach Chorale that Alban Berg used in his violin concerto, as well as Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture.

The 'Sounds Free Orchestra' was founded by students of the Birmingham University Music Society who are passionate about bringing classical and contemporary music to the public. The orchestra has plans to perform many more free, outdoor concerts in more ununsual locations next year.
