Erin Sullivan wins Cultural History prize

The Watchful Spirit: Religious Anxieties toward Sleep in Seventeenth-Century England

Congratulations to Dr Erin Sullivan who has been awarded the International Society for Cultural History’s 2011 Essay Prize for her piece entitled ‘The Watchful Spirit: Religious Anxieties toward Sleep in Seventeenth-Century England’.

The prize recognizes ‘the best article on cultural history’ written by scholars who have completed their PhD within the past 5 years. It is intended to bring attention to work that makes ‘an insightful contribution to scholarship on cultural history through methodological innovation, theoretical originality or historiographical significance’.
