Almut Koester recently attended the annual conference of the International Association of Teachers of English as Foreign Language (IATEFL) in Glasgow (19 – 23 March 2012) where she was involved in two events dealing with the applications of research on business discourse to English language teaching:
She was a speaker and presenter for the Pre-Conference Day organised by the Business English Special Interest Group on: 'English as a Lingua Franca – What should we be teaching?'. She gave 30-minute talk on: 'English as a Lingua Franca – Should we be teaching Metaphors and Idioms?' and was a speaker on a panel discussion which finished the day.
